How come someone cant post in forums on discord

Usually it’s because of permissions, server setup, or account restrictions on that Discord server. In forum channels, you may be able to read posts but not create one if the server hasn’t enabled the right access, your role is missing posting permission, or you haven’t completed required steps like verification or accepting rules.

Common reasons

  • The server owner disabled posting in that forum or limited it to certain roles.
  • You haven’t passed onboarding steps, like verification, a rules check, or a waiting period.
  • Your role can view the forum but not create posts because channel or category permissions block it.
  • The forum may be set up as a community feature, and the server hasn’t fully enabled Community settings yet.
  • Discord may be showing a server-side limit or moderation lock, which can make posting fail even when the channel looks open.

What to check

  1. See whether you can post in other channels on the same server.
  2. Check if the server requires verification, phone/email confirmation, or rule acceptance.
  3. Look at your role permissions, especially if others can post but you cannot.
  4. Ask a moderator whether the forum is restricted to certain members or temporarily locked.
  5. Try desktop and mobile only if you suspect a client glitch, but permission issues are the most common cause.

Forum-specific note

Discord forums are not the same as traditional web forums; posting is controlled by server permissions and community settings, not just by whether the channel is visible. So seeing the forum does not always mean you’re allowed to create a post in it.

TL;DR

They can usually see the forum but not post because the server has blocked posting for their role, requires verification, or has forum/community settings that limit who can create threads.
