To type m² in Word, type m2 and then make the 2 superscript.
Fast ways

m2. - Highlight the
2. - Press Ctrl + Shift + + in Word, or click the Superscript button on the Home tab.
Other options
- Insert the character ² directly with Alt + 0178 on Windows.
- Use Insert > Equation if you want it formatted like a math expression.
Example
If you want to write square meters, 12 m2 becomes 12 m² after
superscripting the 2.
