How do I make a check mark in Microsoft Outlook?

You can insert a check mark in Outlook a few different ways, depending on whether you want a symbol, a checkbox, or a quick keyboard entry. The most reliable method is to use the Insert > Symbol menu and choose a check mark from Wingdings or Segoe UI Symbol.

Easiest method

  1. Open your email in Outlook.
  2. Put the cursor where you want the check mark.
  3. Go to Insert > Symbol > More Symbols.
  4. Pick Wingdings or Segoe UI Symbol.
  5. Select a check mark and click Insert.

Keyboard option

On Windows, some check marks can be typed with an Alt code using the numeric keypad, such as Alt + 0252 in Wingdings. On Mac, a common shortcut is Option + V for a check mark symbol.

Copy and paste

If you just need it once, you can copy this symbol and paste it into your message: . That is often the fastest option for plain emails.

Small note

Outlook also supports other checkmark styles, including heavier versions like , so the exact look depends on the font and symbol you choose.
