how many black people in the united states
About 51–52 million people in the United States identify as Black when you count both “Black alone” and “Black in combination with another race,” which is roughly 15% of the total U.S. population as of the latest estimates released in 2025 for the 2024 population. If you look only at people who identify as Black alone (including both Hispanic and non-Hispanic), the number is closer to about 47 million people, or around 14% of the population, while non-Hispanic Black alone is about 43 million (around 13%).
