how many states not contributing to the 250th anniversary of independence

As of the latest reports I found, eight states had announced they would not join the 250th anniversary celebration effort.

Those states were Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington.

A separate report also noted earlier forum chatter about seven states pulling out, but the later reporting updated that total to eight.
