HOW TO MAKE SURE AMAZON DOESNT SAVE CREDIT CARD

The safest way to make sure Amazon doesn’t keep your card is to remove the payment method after checkout and also turn off any backup payment option if it’s enabled. Amazon’s help pages say you can delete a saved card from Your Payments and manage backup payment methods in account settings.

What to do

  1. Sign in to Amazon.
  2. Go to Account & Lists > Your Account > Your Payments.
  3. Select the card you want gone.
  4. Choose Remove from wallet and confirm.
  1. Then go to Settings > Manage back-up payment method and disable or uncheck any cards you do not want used as backups.

Extra caution

If you want the card to never stay on the account, the most reliable habit is to delete it right after each purchase. Public forum discussions also describe this as the only sure workaround when a site keeps cards available for later checkout.

Important note

Even after removing a card from Amazon, check your bank statement and Amazon order history for a while after any purchase. If you see anything suspicious, contact your bank right away and change your Amazon password.
