How to send Bitcoin through Cash App
Open Cash App, go to the Money tab, tap Bitcoin, choose Send Bitcoin, enter the amount and recipient address, then review and confirm the payment. Cash App’s help page says you can send bitcoin to a bitcoin address or Lightning invoice, and for on-chain transfers you can choose a speed before confirming.
[1]Steps
- Open Cash App and tap the Money tab. [1]
- Tap the Bitcoin tile. [1]
- Tap the arrows button and choose Send Bitcoin. [1]
- Enter the amount and the recipient’s bitcoin address or Lightning invoice. [1]
- Tap Next, choose a speed for on-chain transfers if needed, then confirm the payment. [1]
Lightning option
If the recipient uses Lightning, Cash App also lets you tap the QR icon in the Bitcoin area and scan or paste a Lightning invoice, then confirm the payment.
[1]Important checks
- Double-check the address before sending, because bitcoin transfers are usually irreversible. [3][6]
- Make sure Bitcoin is enabled and your app is updated if the Bitcoin option does not appear. [4]
- Cash App’s published help says Bitcoin can be sent instantly to any $cashtag for free, and its bitcoin page notes you can buy bitcoin in the app starting at $1. [2][1]
For a typical transfer, the safest workflow is: copy the recipient’s correct address, paste it into Cash App, verify it carefully, and only then confirm the send.
