To tag a post on Facebook, open the post composer, start your post, and use the tag option or type @ followed by the person or Page name, then select the correct match. Facebook explains that tagging creates a link to the profile and may notify the person tagged.
Steps
- Open Facebook and tap or click What’s on your mind?.
- Write your post.
- Add a tag by either:
- Tapping Tag people and selecting a friend or Page, or
- Typing @Name in the post text and choosing the right suggestion.
- Finish the post and publish it.
Tagging photos
If you’re posting a photo, upload it first, then tap the photo and choose the tag icon or Tag Friends option. Select the person’s face or name, then save and post.
What tagging does
Tagging links to a profile, may add the post to the tagged person’s timeline, and can make the post visible to that person’s friends depending on privacy settings.
