if the 15th is a monday when do i get paid

You’re (probably) still getting paid on Monday the 15th — unless:

  • your employer or contract says they pay early if payday hits a weekend/holiday, or
  • the 15th is a bank holiday , in which case it usually moves to the business day before or after.

Most common setups:

  • If your contract says “paid on the 15th of each month” and the 15th is a normal Monday (no holiday), your pay is scheduled for that Monday.
  • Some employers choose to pay the previous Friday instead, especially if they normally never pay on Mondays or they process payroll so that funds land before the weekend. This is more of a company policy than a universal rule.
  • If that Monday is also a bank/federal holiday , then:
    • Some employers run payroll early so money lands the business day before.
    • Others let it land the next business day after banks reopen.

Since practices vary a lot, the only way to know for sure is to check:

  1. Your contract or employee handbook (look for wording like “on the 15th or next working day”).
  1. Your HR/payroll portal (they often publish a pay calendar).
  1. Ask HR or your manager directly: “If the 15th falls on a Monday, do we get paid that day, the Friday before, or the next business day?”

Quick example:

  • If payday is the 15th and this month the 15th is a regular Monday → you’re usually paid Monday the 15th.
  • If payday is the 15th and the 15th is Monday but a bank holiday → you’ll typically be paid Friday the 12th or Tuesday the 16th , depending on your employer’s policy.

So: if the 15th is a Monday and not a holiday, expect your money that Monday unless your employer explicitly does Friday-before pay.
