They’re usually called a typing indicator or loading indicator. In AI chats, the three dots simply show the system is processing or preparing a reply, not that the AI is literally thinking.

If you mean the feature inside a chatbot interface, you can also call it a “typing bubble” or “ellipsis indicator.”
