what is civil war

A civil war is a war fought between organized groups within the same country, rather than between separate countries.

It usually involves one side trying to take control of the central government, gain independence for a region, or force major changes in government policies. Civil wars are typically large-scale, sustained conflicts with armies or armed groups, not just short riots or isolated violence.

A famous example is the American Civil War (1861–1865), when the United States fought against 11 Southern states that seceded to form the Confederate States of America.
