Flocking a pool means adding a chemical called a flocculant to cloudy pool water so tiny particles clump together, sink to the bottom, and can be vacuumed out. It’s usually used when normal filtration isn’t clearing the water well enough.

When people use it

If your pool looks hazy because the filter keeps missing super-fine dirt, flocking can help by turning that invisible haze into visible clumps that settle on the floor. Then you vacuum those clumps out instead of waiting for the filter to catch them.
