what is trial card are coming with the new expansion
The new Trial Cards coming with Hearthstone’s Cataclysm expansion are temporary free cards that let every player use two full past sets during the expansion cycle. They cover Into the Emerald Dream and The Lost City of Un’Goro , including Golden versions, and are available from March 10, 2026 through the Cataclysm cycle.
What they are
Trial Cards are Blizzard’s way of giving all players access to a huge chunk of the Standard card pool for free during Cataclysm. The official site says this adds “two full past sets” and gives access to “two thirds of all Standard cards” at no cost.
What you get
- All cards from Into the Emerald Dream.
- All cards from The Lost City of Un’Goro.
- Golden cards included for the trial period.
- Temporary access only, not permanent ownership.
When it starts
Players who log in between March 10, 2026 and the Cataclysm launch window unlock the Trial Cards for that expansion cycle. The expansion itself launches on March 17, 2026.
Extra rewards
If you already owned most of those sets, Blizzard also offered bonus signature cards tied to completion milestones, including Ysera, Emerald Aspect and Endbringer Umbra.
In plain language
Think of it like a giant temporary library: instead of buying the two older sets, everyone can borrow them for the duration of the expansion. That makes deck-building much easier for returning players and newcomers.
