You can start trading in Pokémon GO at Trainer Level 10. Trading also requires you to be friends in the game and physically close to the other player, and some Pokémon can’t be traded at all, such as Mythical Pokémon like Mew.
Trading basics
- Minimum level: 10
- Friend requirement: You must be friends with the other trainer
- Distance: You need to be nearby, usually within about 100 meters
Common restrictions
- Pokémon that have already been traded once cannot be traded again
- Mythical Pokémon cannot be traded
- Trading can change CP, HP, and IVs when the Pokémon is received
Extra note
A traded Pokémon’s level may be adjusted downward if it would be too strong for the receiving trainer’s level.
