when do teeth come in for babies
Babies usually start getting their first teeth around 6 months old, though it can be normal for teething to begin anywhere from about 4 months to after 12 months. Most children have all 20 baby teeth by around age 2 to 3.
Typical order
- Front bottom teeth usually come first.
- Front top teeth often follow soon after.
- Then the side front teeth, first molars, canines, and second molars come in over the next couple of years.
What’s normal
- Some babies are born with a tooth.
- Some don’t get their first tooth until after their first birthday.
- Timing varies a lot from child to child.
When to ask a dentist
A first dental visit is generally recommended after teeth erupt, and no later than the first birthday.
