when does the network exam expire

The CompTIA Network+ certification expires three years after the date you pass the exam. It can be renewed through CompTIA’s continuing education program, and if it lapses, you have to pass the exam again to regain active status.

What this means

  • The exam version may retire on its own schedule, but that is separate from your certification expiration.
  • Your certification stays active for three years from the earned date, not from the exam’s retirement date.
  • If you retake the latest Network+ exam, that can also be used to renew the certification.

Example

If you passed Network+ on June 26, 2026, it would normally expire on June 26, 2029, unless you renew it before then.

Useful distinction

A lot of people mean two different things when they ask this:

  1. How long the certification is valid: 3 years.
  1. When the current exam version stops being offered: that depends on CompTIA’s retirement schedule.
