The first Winter Olympics were held in 1924 in Chamonix, France, running from 25 January to 5 February of that year.

These Games were originally organized as an “International Winter Sports Week” linked to the Paris 1924 Summer Olympics, and only in 1926 were they officially recognized as the first Winter Olympic Games.
