where are lantern flies from

Lanternflies (specifically the spotted lanternfly people are worried about) are originally from eastern Asia, especially parts of China , as well as Vietnam and India.

They were accidentally introduced to other countries like South Korea, Japan, and eventually the United States by hitchhiking on shipped goods such as stone, vehicles, and other materials.
