where did dickens work as a child

Charles Dickens worked as a child at Warren’s Blacking Warehouse (also called Warren’s Blacking Factory), a boot‑blacking/shoe‑polish factory in London, near Hungerford Stairs by today’s Charing Cross railway station.

He was sent there around the age of 11–12 when his father was imprisoned for debt, and he spent long days pasting labels on pots or bottles of blacking (shoe polish).
