where do i add addons in tbc classic

Put your addons in the TBC Classic Interface/AddOns folder for the TBC install , then enable them on the character select screen. Blizzard’s launcher help and community guidance for TBC Classic both point to the separate Burning Crusade install and its own addon folder, not the old Classic Era one.

Where to install

  • Open the Battle.net app.
  • Select Burning Crusade Classic.
  • Click the gear next to Play and choose Show in Explorer.
  • Go to World of Warcraft\_classic_\Interface\AddOns or the TBC-specific install folder shown by your launcher, then drop the addon folders there.

If they do not show up

  • Make sure the addon is actually built for TBC Classic.
  • In-game, click AddOns on the character select screen and check Load out of date AddOns if needed.
  • If you used an addon manager, make sure it is pointed at the TBC Classic install, not retail or Classic Era.

Common fix

If you already have addons from Classic Era, copy the whole addon folder and your WTF folder into the TBC install first, then update them for TBC compatibility.

Quick example

If your game is installed at C:\World of Warcraft\_classic_\, the addon path is usually C:\World of Warcraft\_classic_\Interface\AddOns.

TL;DR: put addons in the TBC Classic Interface/AddOns folder for the TBC install, then enable them in the AddOns menu at character select.
