where do i get my p60

You normally get your P60 from your employer, either as a paper document or as a digital file (for example via an online HR/payroll portal), and they must provide it by 31 May following the end of the UK tax year if you are still employed on 5 April.

Quick Scoop

  • If you’re employed
    • Your current employer is legally required to issue your P60 for that tax year if you were on their payroll on 5 April.
* They can give it to you on paper or electronically; many workplaces now use online portals where you can download it.
* If you have more than one job, you get a separate P60 from each employer you still work for on 5 April.
  • If you have not received it
    • First, contact your HR or payroll team and ask them to reissue it or tell you where to download it.
* If the employer has closed, refuses to help, or you lost the document, you can use your HMRC Personal Tax Account or the HMRC app to see the same pay and tax information that would appear on a P60.
* You can also contact HMRC directly and ask them for a statement of earnings/tax for the relevant year, which most organisations accept in place of a lost P60.
  • If you are self‑employed only
    • You do not get a P60 because that form is only issued by employers through PAYE.
* When you need proof of income, you usually use your SA302 tax calculation and tax year overviews from HMRC instead.

In short: look in your employer’s portal or wait for them to issue it by the end of May; if that fails, use your HMRC account or contact HMRC for the same information.
