where does photosynthesis take place?

Photosynthesis takes place mainly inside special structures called chloroplasts in the cells of green plants and algae. Within each chloroplast, the actual reactions happen in tiny membrane sacs called thylakoids (for the light reactions) and in the surrounding fluid called the stroma (for the Calvin cycle).
