where does the cable car pick up at hyde
The Powell–Hyde cable car picks you up at two main points on the Hyde line:
- At the start of the route (Union Square side):
- Powell & Market Street – the big turntable in front of Union Square (across from Nordstrom’s). This is where both the Powell–Hyde and Powell–Mason lines begin.
- At the end of the route (Fisherman’s Wharf side):
- Hyde & Beach Streets – the turntable at Aquatic Park , just west of Ghirardelli Square near Fisherman’s Wharf. This is where the line officially “picks up” if you’re boarding from the bay side.
There’s also a special summer-only loop called the “Hyde Ride” that runs only on Fridays–Sundays (11 a.m.–6 p.m.) between Hyde & Beach and points like Lombard Street, the Cable Car Museum, and Chinatown—but these cars do not go to Powell & Market.
