where doi find my agi on my tax return
Your AGI is printed on the first page of your individual federal tax return (Form 1040 series) and is labeled “Adjusted Gross Income.”
Where to find your AGI on common IRS forms
- Form 1040 (most recent years, including 2022–2025): Line 11 is your Adjusted Gross Income.
- Form 1040‑SR (for seniors): Also Line 11 for recent years.
- Older forms (before 2018, no longer used now but you might see them if you’re looking at an old return):
- Form 1040A: AGI on line 21.
* Form 1040EZ: AGI on line 4.
On a paper copy or PDF of your return, look near the bottom of the first page; you’ll see a line labeled “Adjusted Gross Income” with the dollar amount next to it.
If you don’t have your tax return copy
If you can’t find your AGI because you don’t have the return:
- You can request an IRS tax transcript, which shows your AGI, using the IRS “Get Transcript” tools online or by mail.
- If you use tax software (TurboTax, TaxAct, etc.), sign in to your account, open last year’s return PDF, and check Line 11 on Form 1040.
Your AGI is often needed to e‑file (it verifies your identity), so having that number handy from Line 11 of last year’s Form 1040 is usually enough to move forward.
