where is archive in gmail
You won’t see a folder literally called “Archive” in Gmail – it works a bit differently. Archived emails live under All Mail , not in a separate “Archive” folder.
Quick Scoop: Where is Archive in Gmail?
On computer (web)
To find where your archived emails went:
- Open Gmail in your browser.
- Look at the left sidebar where you see Inbox, Sent, etc.
- Click More (if you don’t see All Mail yet).
- Click All Mail – this is effectively your archive, plus everything else that isn’t in Trash or Spam.
Any email you archive is just your message with the Inbox label removed, so it disappears from Inbox but remains in All Mail (and under any labels you added).
On the Gmail app (Android & iPhone)
- Open the Gmail app.
- Tap the three horizontal lines (menu) in the top-left.
- Scroll down and tap All Mail.
Again, that’s where archived messages live. There isn’t a separate “Archive” label.
How to tell something is archived
- If a message is not in your Inbox, not in Trash, and not in Spam, but you can see it in All Mail , it’s effectively archived.
- If it has a label (like “Work”), it will appear under that label and in All Mail after archiving.
Bonus: How to only see archived emails
Because All Mail also includes your Inbox, a quick trick many people use is:
- In the search bar at the top of Gmail, type:
NOT label:inbox
This hides anything that’s still in Inbox and mostly leaves archived mail (plus some other non-inbox items like Sent).
