where is the oblique muscle

The oblique muscles are on the sides of your abdomen, running diagonally from your lower ribs down toward your pelvis on both sides of your torso.

Quick Scoop

  • The obliques are a pair of abdominal muscles: the external oblique (on top) and the internal oblique (underneath).
  • They sit on the anterolateral (front–side) walls of your abdomen, covering the area from about the 5th–12th ribs down to the iliac crest (top of the hip bone) and pubic region.
  • When you bend to the side or twist your trunk, you are using your oblique muscles.
