where is the setting to allow friends to see what game you're playing steam
In Steam, the setting is in Profile > Edit Profile > Privacy Settings. To let friends see what game you’re playing, set Game details to Friends Only or Public ; if it’s Private , friends won’t see your in-game status or game title.

If you still want to appear online
- Keep Game details visible, but make sure you are not set to Invisible or Offline , since those statuses hide your playing activity from friends.
