where is thyroxine produced?

Thyroxine is produced in the thyroid gland, specifically by the follicular cells in the thyroid located in the front of your neck.

It is synthesized inside the thyroid follicles by attaching iodine to the amino acid tyrosine within a large protein called thyroglobulin, and then released into the bloodstream as T4 (thyroxine).
