Iran is a country in West Asia, in the region commonly called the Middle East.
Where Iran Is
- Iran sits between the Caspian Sea to the north and the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman to the south.
- It borders:
- Iraq to the west.
* Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan to the northwest/north.
* Turkmenistan to the north/northeast.
* Afghanistan and Pakistan to the east.

- Look east from the Mediterranean and Egypt: you hit Iraq, and just to the east of Iraq is Iran.
