who is zeus mother

Zeus’s mother in Greek mythology is Rhea , a Titaness and mother-goddess who was married to Cronus.

Rhea is the daughter of Gaia (Earth) and Uranus (Sky) and belongs to the older generation of Titans before the Olympian gods. Fearing a prophecy that one of his children would overthrow him, Cronus swallowed each baby at birth, so when Rhea became pregnant with Zeus, she secretly gave birth to him in a cave on Crete and hid him there. She then tricked Cronus by giving him a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes instead of the newborn, which he swallowed, thinking it was Zeus.
