who made cotton candy
The classic cotton candy we know today was created in 1897 by William Morrison , a dentist, and John C. Wharton , a confectioner, in Nashville, Tennessee.
They invented an electric candy machine that melted sugar and spun it through tiny holes to form those light, flossy strands. They patented the machine and introduced their creation to the public at the 1904 World’s Fair, where it became a huge hit. Later, in 1921, another dentist, Josef Lascaux, patented a spun-sugar machine and popularized the actual name “cotton candy” in the United States.
