why is tulane called the green wave
Tulane is called the Green Wave because of a 1920 student song titled “The Rolling Green Wave” that quickly became a popular way to describe the university’s teams, replacing earlier color-based nicknames like “Olive and Blue” and “Greenbacks.” The phrase stuck in campus publications during that football season and, by the end of the year, “Green Wave” had been adopted across Tulane athletics and later inspired the school’s wave-themed logos and mascots.
