Plant marigold seeds about 1/4 inch deep ; if you sow them a little shallower, around 1/8 inch , they can still germinate well as long as the soil stays lightly covered and moist. Marigold seeds should not be buried more than 1/4 inch deep, or germination may slow down or fail.

Simple planting tip

  • Make a shallow furrow or small hole.
  • Drop in the seeds.
  • Cover with a thin layer of soil or seed-starting mix.
  • Water gently so you do not wash the seeds away.

For best results, keep the soil moist but not soggy while the seeds sprout.
