Tanya gets into power in Saga of Tanya the Evil by being promoted through military success, not by a political coup. She starts as a highly effective mage soldier, and her battlefield skill, discipline, and ruthless efficiency keep pushing her upward in rank.

How it happens

Tanya is reincarnated into an alternate World War I-style empire as a girl, then enters the Empire’s mage division as a child soldier. She survives dangerous missions, performs extremely well, and earns promotions because she keeps delivering results the military values. Her reputation grows until she becomes one of the Empire’s most feared officers, often called the “Devil of the Rhine”.

Why she rises fast

  • She is unusually talented and tactical in combat.
  • She follows orders in a way that looks loyal on paper, even when her real goal is self-preservation.
  • Her effectiveness makes superiors rely on her, which accelerates her authority.

What “power” means here

If you mean political power, Tanya does not really seize the government. Her “power” is mostly military rank, battlefield influence, and fear-based reputation inside the Empire’s war machine. If you mean story power, she becomes influential because everyone around her has to account for what she might do next.

Tanya’s rise is basically a mix of talent, survival, and promotion through war.
