The Back Star is a move in Sonic Advance 2 that you perform in midair by pressing the R button after being launched by a spring, ramp, or similar gimmick. It makes the character flip backward a short distance to quickly change direction.

How to use it

  1. Get launched into the air.
  2. While airborne, press R.
  3. Your character will reverse direction and drift backward a little.

What it does

  • Helps avoid obstacles or fix a bad landing.
  • Does not cancel Boost Mode momentum.
  • Leaves you exposed to anything behind you.
