For webDEALER, the buyer signs by opening the buyer acknowledgment link sent by email, then completing the electronic acknowledgment on the web page. The acknowledgment replaces the buyer’s signature on the 130-U, and it can be done on most PC or mobile browsers.

How the buyer signs

  1. The buyer opens the email from webDEALER.
  2. The email contains a hyperlink to the Buyer Acknowledgment page.
  3. The buyer logs in and electronically acknowledges the sale.
  4. Only the buyer may complete that step, and after submission the acknowledgment is finished.

What the buyer sees

The system is designed so the buyer can review the transaction and then electronically acknowledge it. In the older webDEALER guide, the buyer must electronically acknowledge the buyer acknowledgment on the login website, and the electronic acknowledgment replaces the buyer’s signature on the 130-U.

Important notes

  • If there is a co-buyer, both buyers must meet the Texas driver license or ID requirements and both must sign the 130-U.
  • In one guide, only one buyer’s driver license or ID is entered in webDEALER, and that buyer electronically acknowledges the sale.
  • One source also notes that secure documents signed electronically must be submitted through webDEALER.

In plain terms

The buyer does not usually “draw” a signature inside webDEALER itself; they use the email link to open the acknowledgment page and complete the electronic sign-off there.

TL;DR: The buyer signs by clicking the webDEALER acknowledgment link in their email and electronically confirming the sale in the browser.
