You can play Roblox on your server in a few different ways, depending on what you mean by “server.” If you mean a Roblox game server, you usually join it from the game’s Servers page or create a private server if the game allows it.

Join a public server

  • Open the Roblox app or website.
  • Go to the experience you want to play.
  • Scroll to the Servers section.
  • Pick a server with open spots and join it.

Use a private server

  • Open the experience page.
  • Go to Servers.
  • If private servers are enabled, select Create Private Server and buy it with Robux.
  • Then invite friends or allow specific people to join.

If you mean your own LAN/test server

Roblox Studio can be used to test games over a local network in some cases, but this is mainly for development and testing rather than normal gameplay. A community tutorial notes that this kind of setup is mostly useful for playtesting with friends on the same network.

Important note

Roblox does not let you run a normal public game server on your own hardware the way some games do; most players either join Roblox-hosted servers or use private servers inside an experience that supports them.

Quick example

If your friend made a game and enabled private servers, you would open that game, go to Servers , join the private server link they sent, and start playing together.

TL;DR: you normally play Roblox on a server by joining a public server or creating/joining a private server inside a game that supports it.
