To share a note on iPhone, open the Notes app, pick your note, then use the Share options to either collaborate in real time or send a static copy.

Quick Scoop

If you just want the fast version:

  1. Open Notes on your iPhone.
  1. Tap the note you want to share (or create a new one in iCloud).
  1. Tap the Share button (square with an arrow) or the three-dots / options button at the top.
  1. Choose either:
    • Collaborate / Share Note (others can edit), or
    • Send Copy (they just get a non-editable copy, like text, PDF, etc.).
  1. Pick how to send it: Messages, Mail, AirDrop, WhatsApp , etc., then send.

That’s it—your note is now shared.

Two main ways to share

1. Share to collaborate (live editing)

Use this if you want others to edit the note with you (grocery list, trip planning, project notes, etc.).

Steps:

  1. Open Notes → open the note.
  2. Tap the Share icon (or the dots, then Share Note).
  1. Make sure the mode is Collaborate (not “Send Copy”).
  1. Tap Manage Share / Share Options and set:
    • Who can access: Only people you invite or Anyone with the link.
 * Permissions: **Can make changes** or **View only**.
  1. Choose how to send the invite (Messages, Mail, etc.), pick contacts, and tap Send.

Everyone you invited can then open the note and see changes in real time.

2. Send a copy (no collaboration)

Use this when you don’t want anyone editing your original note—just sending info.

  1. Open the note in Notes.
  2. Tap the Share icon.
  3. Tap the menu that says Collaborate and switch it to Send Copy.
  1. Choose how to send (Messages, Mail, AirDrop, etc.).

Some apps or options can send it as:

  • Plain text (in a message or email).
  • PDF or similar, depending on the route you choose.

Keeping layout & images intact (PDF trick)

If your note has both text and images and you want it to look the same on any device (including Android), a popular forum trick is to “print” it to PDF first.

  1. Open the note.
  2. Tap Share → choose Print.
  1. On the print preview, zoom in on the page with two fingers to turn it into a PDF.
  1. Tap the new Share icon that appears.
  2. Send via Messages, Mail, WhatsApp , etc.

This keeps formatting, images, and layout together.

Mini FAQ & angles

  • Best for editing together? Use Collaborate / Share Note with edit permissions.
  • Best for sending a “read-only” version? Use Send Copy , or PDF via the Print trick.
  • Recipient doesn’t have an iPhone? Prefer PDF or plain text via email or messaging.
