In modern Formula 1, a standard Grand Prix race win is worth 25 points for the driver.

Since 2010, F1 has used this same core system, where:

  • 1st place: 25 points.
  • 2nd place: 18 points.
  • 3rd place: 15 points.

There are extra wrinkles:

  • If the race distance is shortened (for example, between 25% and 75% of the scheduled laps), the winner gets reduced points like 19, 13, or 6 depending on how much of the race was completed.
  • There is also 1 bonus point for the fastest lap, but only if that driver finishes in the top 10.
