Maghrib is 3 rakats for the obligatory (fard) prayer. Most scholars also mention that it is recommended to pray additional units after the fard: typically 2 rakats of Sunnah, and many people also pray 2 rakats of nafl (optional) afterwards, but the essential Maghrib itself is the 3 fard rakats.
