The Age Pension in Australia is currently a little over $1,170 per fortnight for a single person and just under $890 per fortnight for each member of a couple, if you qualify for the full rate.

Current Age Pension amounts

These are the maximum full Age Pension rates for the period 20 September 2025 to 19 March 2026 (the latest published rates, still current into early 2026):

  • Single: $1,178.70 per fortnight (around $30,646 per year).
  • Couple (each): $888.50 per fortnight (around $23,101 per year per person).
  • Couple (combined): $1,777.00 per fortnight (around $46,202 per year total).

What affects how much you get

Not everyone gets the full rate. Centrelink works out your payment under both an income test and an assets test , and then pays you the lower result.

  • If your income or assets are over certain thresholds, your Age Pension reduces progressively from the maximum rate.
  • If your income and assets are under the limits, you may receive the full rate shown above.

There are different limits for singles, couples, homeowners and non‑homeowners.

Asset limits example (2025–26)

For Age Pension eligibility, there are maximum asset levels above which your pension reduces to zero.

  • Single homeowner: up to about $714,500 in assessable assets.
  • Single non‑homeowner: up to about $972,500.
  • Couple homeowners (combined): up to about $1,074,000.
  • Couple non‑homeowners (combined): up to about $1,332,000.

These figures exclude your primary residence but include most investments and savings.
