Quick Scoop: To add cash to a Chime card, you usually deposit the money into your Chime Checking Account through a retail cash-deposit partner, then the funds are available on your Chime debit card. Chime says to open the app, go to Move MoneyDeposit Cash , and either show the barcode or use your physical Chime card at a participating retailer.

How it works

  • Open the Chime app.
  • Tap Move Money.
  • Select Deposit Cash.
  • Find a nearby retail location.
  • At the store, give the cashier your cash and either:
    • show your deposit barcode, or
    • swipe your Chime Visa debit card.

Good to know

  • Chime says cash deposits can be made at partner retailer locations, and it lists over 75,000 locations.
  • For cash deposits, Chime notes you can make up to three deposits every 24 hours.
  • If your card’s magnetic strip is damaged, cash deposits with the card may not work.

Important detail

If you mean a Chime debit card , there is not a separate “load the card” step in the same way as a prepaid card; you deposit money into the account linked to the card.
