To enable and use Stock Journal in Tally Prime, first make sure inventory features are turned on, then open the Stock Journal voucher from the vouchers menu. For stock transfers between godowns, enable multiple godowns as well.

What to enable

  • Open Gateway of Tally → F11 (Features) → Inventory Features.
  • Set Maintain Multiple Godowns to Yes if you want to move stock between locations.
  • Save the settings.

How to open Stock Journal

  • Go to Gateway of Tally → Vouchers → F7 (Stock Journal).
  • Enter the date , choose the stock item , and fill in quantity.
  • If needed, select the source godown and destination godown for stock transfer.

Common use

  • Use Stock Journal for stock transfers , inventory adjustments , and manufacturing-related item movement.
  • In many tutorials, users also access it through the inventory voucher screen and then record item movement before saving with Ctrl+A.

Simple example

If you move 10 units of a product from one warehouse to another, open Stock Journal, pick the item, enter 10 as quantity, choose the source and destination godowns, then save the voucher.

There is also a special excise stock journal setup in Tally Help, but that is only for excise-related dealer-to-importer transfers and needs Enable Excise = Yes plus voucher type alteration.
