To enroll for a voter ID online in India, use the Election Commission’s voter portal and submit Form 6 for a new voter registration. The official portal says new voter registration is for people who are 18 or older, or who will turn 18 soon, and the National Portal of India confirms the service is fully online.

What to do

  1. Go to the official voter services portal.
  1. Choose New Voter Registration and fill Form 6.
  1. Enter your personal details, address, and contact information.
  1. Upload the required documents as asked on the form.
  1. Submit the application and keep the reference details for tracking.

Eligibility

You can apply if you are an Indian citizen, have turned 18 by the qualifying date, live in the constituency where you want to be enrolled, and are not disqualified from being registered as a voter.

If your name is already in the electoral roll, you do not need new registration; you can instead check or update your details through the same official system.
