In Microsoft Teams, notifications usually appear in two places: your Activity feed and the relevant chat or channel thread.

Where to look

  • Open Activity in the upper left to see @mentions and reply notifications.
  • Check the chat or channel itself, since unread activity can also show there.
  • If you want to control how alerts appear, go to Settings and more > Settings > Notifications and activity.

If you mean “two alerts”

Teams can show the same event in both the Activity feed and as a desktop/banner notification, which can feel like “two alerts.”

To reduce duplicates, review:

  • Chat and channels notification settings.
  • Display settings for previews and banners.
  • Mobile notification preferences if you use the app on your phone.

Fast check

  1. Open Teams.
  2. Click Activity.
  3. Open Settings and more.
  4. Go to Notifications and activity.
  5. Review Chats and channels and Display.

If you meant something more specific by “what two alerts,” tell me whether you mean duplicate notifications, two @mentions, or two different warning types in Teams.
