Basic blueprint fragments in Rust come from puzzle rooms and a few loot sources: green card rooms usually give 1, blue card rooms usually give 2, and you can also get them from military crates, large underwater crates, junkpile scientists, roadside metal detecting, and supply drops.

Fastest spots

  • Green card puzzle rooms at monuments are the easiest reliable source for solo runs.
  • Blue card puzzle rooms are better if you want more fragments per run.
  • Supply drops are a strong bonus source because they can contain fragments too.

Common loot sources

  • Military crates.
  • Large underwater crates.
  • Junkpile scientists along roads.
  • Metal detector finds on roads and rails.

Quick route

  1. Hit a nearby green puzzle monument first.
  2. Move to blue-card monuments once you have access.
  3. Farm military crates and road scientists while rotating between monuments.

Basic fragments are used to progress toward higher-tier crafting, and some guides note that 20 basic fragments can be combined into 1 advanced fragment.
