To get onto the roof of the Whirling-in-Rags in Disco Elysium , progress the main story until you can speak to the Hardie Boys and unlock Klaasje’s room access, then go upstairs and use the rooftop route from there.

How it works

  • On Day 2, talk to the Hardie Boys and get them to agree to let you meet Klaasje.
  • From Klaasje’s room area, you can reach the roof and either inspect the route or force the locked door.
  • A common shortcut is to examine the window behind the Hardie Boys for the key to the blue door, which opens the secret passage path.

Checks and requirements

  • One route uses a high Perception check on the window behind the Hardie Boys.
  • Another route uses a Physical Instrument check to break down the rooftop door.
  • If you try too early, the check can be heavily penalized, so it is usually better to advance the quest state first.

Practical route

  1. Talk to the Hardie Boys.
  2. Make sure you have unlocked the Klaasje conversation path.
  3. Go upstairs to Klaasje’s area.
  4. Use the rooftop door or the hidden passage route depending on your build.

The short version: you do not usually “climb up” from the outside first; you unlock access through the hotel’s internal story progression, then reach the roof from Klaasje’s side.

TL;DR: Progress the Hardie Boys/Klaasje questline, then enter the roof area from upstairs; if your stats are good enough, you can also get the blue-door key via the window clue.
