In OSRS, you can’t make your account truly private, but you can make your friends chat/private status show as offline by setting Private to “Show none.”

How to do it

  1. Open the Settings / Social area in-game.
  2. Find the Private chat setting.
  3. Right-click or select it and change it to Show none.

What this does

  • Other players won’t see you as online in the friends list.
  • This is the closest in-game option to “private.”
  • It does not hide you from everything, and clan-related visibility may still apply.

Extra privacy tip

If your goal is account safety rather than just appearing offline, keep your account secured with strong passwords, 2-factor authentication, and a bank PIN.
