To start the Nahantu campaign in Diablo 4’s expansion, create a new character and use the Change Campaign State option on the character creation screen to begin the expansion story directly. This lets you skip the base campaign and start the DLC route right away, even on a fresh account.

How it works

  1. Open Create New Character.
  2. On the naming/campaign screen, select Change Campaign State.
  3. Choose the option to start with the expansion campaign instead of the original story.

When Nahantu unlocks

If you start from the base campaign, Nahantu becomes available later in the expansion path, after the campaign reaches the act that leads you across the Crumbled Bridge and into the new region. The first major quests in the area include Rekindled Faith and then Thrust Into the Dark once you arrive in Nahantu.

Practical tip

If you want the fastest route into the new zone, the cleanest setup is to start a new character and pick the expansion campaign immediately. That gets you into the new story without needing to finish earlier campaign content first.
