how to turn off find my iphone from another device
Quick Scoop
You can turn off Find My iPhone from another device, but you’ll need the same Apple ID and usually the Apple ID password. The safest way is through the Find My app on another Apple device or by signing in to iCloud on a browser and removing the device from your account.
How to do it
- On another iPhone, iPad, or Mac signed in with the same Apple ID, open Find My.
- Tap Devices and select the iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap Remove This Device or Remove from Account.
- Confirm with your Apple ID password if prompted.
Using iCloud
If you do not have the device with you, sign in to iCloud.com/find on a browser, choose the iPhone from All Devices , then remove it from your account. Apple notes that removing a device this way also removes Activation Lock.
Important note
If the iPhone is still online and connected to your Apple ID, you may need to erase it first before removing it from the account, depending on the situation. If the toggle is grayed out on the device itself, restrictions like Stolen Device Protection, Screen Time, or management profiles may be blocking the change.
Bottom line
If you own the Apple ID, the process is straightforward. If you do not have the Apple ID password, Apple’s security protections are designed to prevent turning Find My off from another device.
